“I want our graduates not only ready to deliver the highest quality nursing care but also prepared to lead. They should be shaping the health systems, communities, and agencies that define how care is delivered. I fully expect that our nurses will be the ones directing that future.”

The Human Factor

Carolyn Clevenger built her career solving some of healthcare’s most complex challenges. She started as a cardiac nurse and has spent decades bridging the gap between research and real-world care.

This mindset drove her to create an innovative care delivery model for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their caregivers, a model now being pilot tested with more than 40,000 Medicare beneficiaries across the U.S. As a nationally recognized voice in nursing and education, an Edge Runner and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Gerontological Society of America, she has always put human health at the forefront of her research and educational practices. At the new Victoria Kay Ivester School of Nursing, she will continue preparing nurses who will shape the future of healthcare.
