“I’m really grateful for my experience at UGA. I’m from Georgia, so I’ve benefited from both the Zell Miller Scholarship and the ease of opportunity that’s available at UGA. The fact that I did five study abroad programs that are incredibly tailored to my interests is something you just can’t get anywhere else.”

A Global Education

Genetics major Finn Walsh BS ’26 shaped her academic journey around a curiosity about the intersection of people, animals, and environmental health. That interest blossomed in Andrew Park’s lab at the Odum School of Ecology, where she was introduced to infectious disease research. She then expanded her research and knowledge base across five study abroad programs, including a Maymester in India focusing on tropical diseases and a summer at Oxford studying microbiology.

In March 2026, she was accepted to the University of Edinburgh’s medical anthropology master’s program, fully funded through the Marshall Scholarship, one of the most selective graduate awards available to American students. She will continue her research with a focus on improving education and prevention strategies of vector-borne diseases.
