Achieving Excellence

UGA students thrive in an environment that elevates instruction and student engagement. They seize every opportunity and use those experiences to prepare for fulfilling careers and strengthen their communities.

UGA is one of the top three producers of Rhodes Scholars among public institutions in the last 30 years—including back-to-back scholars in 2023 and 2024. And for the second year in a row—and the sixth time in 12 years—UGA has been named a top producer of Fulbright student recipients.

Demand for a UGA education reached an all-time high with 41,615 students enrolling in the fall of 2023. UGA’s Class of 2027 includes students from 138 Georgia counties, 45 states (plus Washington, D.C.), and 18 nations with approximately 82% of first-year students being Georgia residents.

Graduate Education

Graduate students are vital in fulfilling the teaching, research, and service missions of UGA, and elevating graduate education remains a top priority for the University. This year, UGA raised almost $10 million in private funds to support graduate and professional students and help them achieve their personal and professional goals.

Meanwhile, our graduate and professional programs are among the nation’s best, according to rankings from U.S. News and World Report. Several UGA schools, programs, and specialties earned places in the top 10, including the School of Public and International Affairs (ranked No. 4 overall), the UGA School of Law (No. 7 among public institutions), and the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education (No. 7 higher education administration program in the nation).
