When it comes to her future as an OB-GYN specializing in oncology, Autumn Hampton isn’t leaving anything to chance. A biomedical physiology program ambassador and co-founder of the biomedical physiology society, this aspiring doctor also works part-time as a resident care assistant at Arbor Terrace. In her “spare time,” Autumn volunteers with the executive board for Kesem, a nonprofit organization providing free summer camps and year-round peer support for children in the Athens community impacted by a parent’s cancer.
Autumn has been involved with the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities as a CURO Honors Scholar since her first year at UGA. Her research on identifying the cell of origin for pediatric glioblastomas is a critical step in improving drug development and precision therapy for cancer treatment.
“I want to be a positive part of someone’s cancer journey and be an advocate for the people in my community. I’ve always known that I wanted to be a doctor, and this is the best way for me to make a difference.”
