Ladd McConkey took the pass early in the second quarter of the 2023 Orange Bowl. It was supposed to be a trick play, where Ladd was looking for a teammate to pass to downfield, but the Florida State Seminoles broke up the pass option. It turned out Ladd had a few other tricks up his sleeve as he scrambled around, through, and right by defenders on his way to a 27-yard touchdown. It was just another example of the Bulldog wide receiver’s wit and grit, which contributed to the Bulldogs’ back-to-back football national championships.
Ladd seems to bring that heart wherever he goes—on or off the field. A member of the SEC Honor Roll, he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in finance. He also earned the 2023 Weurffel Trophy, awarded to players for community service and leadership.
He’s now taking that work ethic to the West Coast, where he was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I learned early on in my Georgia career that the unbelievable experiences available on campus and beyond were only possible with the help from generous donors. I have been blessed beyond belief for the opportunities that donors have provided me and my teammates. I look forward to being able to give back down the road to show my appreciation for all that has been done for me.”
