Vicki Michaelis

The undergraduate Sports Media Certificate program produces stars in the nation’s top sports organizations and media outlets. The program teaches journalistic storytelling skills to students aspiring to roles across sports media, from communications to broadcast to social media. Students hone their learning with hands-on opportunities at high school, college, and professional sports venues.

A veteran sports journalist, Vicki Michaelis says donor support is vital to providing those opportunities. A recent gift from the John Huland Carmical Foundation established the Carmical Sports Media Institute. Students now receive financial assistance for experiential learning, including internships and a sports media-focused study abroad opportunity.
