Beyond the Classroom

At UGA, education leaps off the page and into the real world.

Our students lead workshops. They collaborate with international researchers. They support each other with peer tutoring.

WE TAKE CLASSES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM.

WE PREPARE GLOBAL CITIZENS WHO ARE PREPARED TO LEAD.

WE OFFER EXPERIENCES THAT STUDENTS TAKE WITH THEM AFTER THEY GRADUATE.

UGA is one of five institutions nationwide to be honored with the 2025 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization. This award recognizes excellence in making international education a core part of higher learning.

Beyond textbooks and campus borders, our students fully engage with the world, preparing to solve complex challenges on a global scale.

Through hands-on learning opportunities and global study abroad programs, UGA students gain real-world experience that prepares them to lead on an international scale.

Experiential Learning

Our students gain a powerful edge through immersive experiences like study abroad, community engagement, and hands-on research. They put knowledge into action every day—building skills that fuel success beyond graduation.

Students take advantage of UGA's many programs that provide real opportunities to make a difference.

They improve cybersecurity for local businesses, safeguard plants at risk of extinction, and learn crisis management from government agencies. In 2016, UGA became the largest public university in the nation to provide every undergraduate student with an experiential learning opportunity. As a result, our graduates are uniquely prepared to enter the workforce with the confidence and skills to succeed.

Instruction Meets Research

At the intersection of instruction and innovation, UGA's Vertically Integrated Projects for Research (VIPR) program revolutionizes how students engage with research.

Interdisciplinary teams unite undergraduate students, faculty mentors, and graduate researchers in the face of real-world challenges. From agricultural robotics and AI-enabled small satellites to pandemic preparedness and stem cell biology and glycobiology, VIPR prepares students with hands-on experience in large-scale, multidisciplinary research projects.

UGA graduates shape their futures through experiences that go far beyond the classroom as they prepare to lead in a world that demands much more than knowledge.
